21 BLACK JACK REVIEW - LAURA SANCHÍS
“21 blackjack” is an American film
directed by Robert Luketic and written by Peter Steinfeld and Allan Loeb. This
film is based on the book “Bringing down the house”, a true story about the
Blackjack Team. The main actors of the
film are: Jim Sturgess as Ben Campbell, Kevin Spacey as Professor Micky Rosa
and Kate Bosworth as Jill Taylor.
This film tells the story of
Ben Campbell, a young man who is very intelligent and wants to become a doctor.
He has been accepted in Harvard but unfortunately he can’t afford it so he has
to ask for a scholarship. His maths teacher Micky knows his potential and his
problems with money so he asks Ben to join his blackjack team and guarantee him
that together they are going to make a lot of money. They use their talent and
intelligence to trick the game “blackjack” and win. At first, Ben plays because he needs to pay the University but then he gets addicted and keeps playing. Because of that, he gets into trouble.
The most enjoyable thing about
the film is that is unpredictable and it just keeps surprising you, so you never
know what is going to happen. Also, another thing that I find quite pleasant is
that you can understand perfectly the actors and you don’t need to make an
effort.
The only fault I can find is
that sometimes is a little monotonous because they are most of the time playing
“blackjack” and it can get boring.
In conclusion, 21 blackjack is
an action film that I would highly recommend to everyone. I promise the ending
will take you by surprise.
